Social media is an amazing tool you can use to communicate with your customers. It allows you to interact with your existing customers (followers) to keep them engaged whilst also allowing new customers to find you! And, it’s free! 🤑

We have learnt a lot about social media from our own Instagram (@mr_yum_) and we know that this information is what our customers want to know most.

So, now for the good stuff, our top 5 tips!

1. Link your menu in your bio

If you want to convert your social media following into real-life customers (which...you should), then we recommend adding your Mr Yum menu URL into your Instagram Bio.

Having your menu linked in the URL section of your menu makes it easy for customers to order, they don’t have to go searching for your menu or where to order.

We also recommend adding some instructions to your bio so customers know they can order through the link like @_astroluxe has above.

If you want to have multiple links, we recommend using Link.tree! Linktree allows you to create a personalised and easily customisable page that houses all the important links you want to share with your followers.

2. Have a clear CTA in all of your posts

A ‘CTA’ is marketing lingo that stands for ‘call-to-action’ which is what you tell your customers to do after looking at your post. For example, a common ‘CTA’ venues use is “Order via the link in our bio” if you have done tip #1 😉

Clear CTA’s give your customers a simple path to follow: see post, go to the link in your bio and then place their order. If you don’t tell them what to do, they have to go searching which reduces the likelihood of them following through and ordering.

3. Add your Facebook pixel to your digital menu

Facebook pixels allow you to track everyone who views your menu. It creates an audience of those people for you so that you can target ads to them on Facebook. Digital menu companies like Mr Yum allow you to ‘plug’ this pixel into your menu seamlessly.

This is a warm audience to send Facebook or Instagram ads to as they've already been on your menu and will be familiar with your brand, as opposed to simply boosting posts to complete strangers.

If you’re not currently using the Facebook Ad Platform, there is no cost to set this up and start building an audience via your digital menu which you can use in the future.

4. Post consistently to stay TOM

TOM is some more marketing lingo for you! It stands for ‘top-of-mind’ and it’s basically where you want to sit in your customers mind: the top (above everyone else 😉). For example, if you are a cafe, you want to be the first cafe your customers think of when someone says “Lets get bunch!”, right?

To do this, you need to be present on social media to keep reminding your followers how awesome you are! 🙌🏼

To be present, we recommend posting everyday, particularly to your stories. The Instagram ‘feed’ algorithm is tricky and often only shows a few posts, meaning yours could get missed. Stories, on the other hand, are right up the top and show for every venue so have a better chance of being seen by your followers.

Also, your stories don’t have to be beautifully curated and fit into your aesthetic, a simple post like the one above is perfect!

5. Make your content personal

Your social media is a great way for your customers to get to know you and your team better. The more they know you, the more they trust you, the more that want to support & shop from you.

We recommend showcasing your team in your social posts so your customers can see who is making their coffee everyday or cooking their parma! This can help make your customers feel like they are a part of your little community which can also increase their loyalty to you!
