RISING and Mr Yum bring mobile ordering to this cultural event

Melbourne, May 2021

Melbourne startup Mr Yum is set to revolutionise the festival experience as the inaugural winter arts festival RISING takes over Melbourne.

An incredible array of art, music, performance and ceremony will be complemented by an outstanding program of cutting-edge food and drink during the 12-day festival, with Mr Yum providing mobile ordering and frictionless payment options for queue-free food and beverage throughout festival precincts and events across the city.

Beginning on the evening of the total lunar eclipse on May 26, RISING promises a full feast of fabulous food and decadent drinks curated and created by some of the hottest stars in the food and drink world.

From an immersive three-course menu served in a luminous atrium called The Lighthouse at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl to Meatsmith skewers cooked over coals at Birrarung Marr and late-night yum cha at Melbourne Town Hall, Mr Yum will provide the mobile ordering and payment platform to help attendees get their food and drinks fuss-free and conveniently.

Festival goers will order food, drinks and select merchandise via Mr Yum mobile ordering. Diners simply scan the QR code, add items to their cart and check out with card, Google Pay or Apple Pay, with no app needed. An SMS will be sent when the order is ready for pick up and at many events, food and drinks will be delivered directly to the table.

Providing a seamless and intuitive new way of ordering and payment, Mr Yum has modernised the traditional model of festival food and beverage, giving attendees more time to spend with friends and family while enjoying RISING’s cutting-edge array of arts and entertainment on offer. By eliminating queues for food and drinks, Mr Yum also allows for safer interactions during mass gatherings.

Festival goers can also use Mr Yum to easily order exclusive RISING merchandise at various venues across the city. From Reko Rennie-designed umbrellas at the Golden Square Rooftop Bar to RISING beanies and scarves and lanterns to complement the spectacular glowing eel on the Yarra that comes to life every night, Mr Yum makes grabbing RISING goods to go a breeze.

Successfully partnering with the 2021 Melbourne Food and Wine Festival to provide contactless ordering for the festival’s inaugural World’s Longest Brunch, Mr Yum is proud to be a partner of choice for Melbourne’s leading food culture events. Mr Yum CEO and Co-founder Kim Teo says the company is excited to help deliver are-imagined and revolutionised food and beverage experience to festival goers."Mr Yum is thrilled to partner with Melbourne's first RISING arts festival, helping to bring the amazing food offering to more people this winter.

Incredible food, mind-expanding art and entertainment is the beating heart of Melbourne and Mr Yum is proud to support the artists creating the first of what will doubtless become a don't miss fixture on Victoria's annual event calendar," she says. RISING Festival Head of Food and Beverage Gus Carmichael says partnering with Mr Yum has enabled the team to push boundaries, such as offering table service and paired beverages within a festival environment.

“We’re so excited about Mr Yum as a local company that knows Melbourne and knows what this festival is all about, to perform such an integral role in the festival,” he says.“We can do table service at a festival event with Mr Yum, where it would be much harder to do so without it. ”Carmichael says Mr Yum will provide attendees with a safe and convenient way to enjoy the complete RISING experience.

“Being able to guarantee people won’t be in a tight queue while waiting for things was certainly attractive for us and our festival goers. It’s a guarantee of safety, but also convenient. You want to be huddled around a fire, not stuck in a queue for food.”
