Taking flight at Perth Airport with queue-free food and drink

Mr Yum is proud to partner with Perth Airport to offer an elevated experience to the millions who pass through the airport.

Perth, September 2021

Leading mobile ordering, payments and growth platform Mr Yum has landed at Perth Airport to provide QR code mobile ordering for in-terminal food and drinks.

The partnership will enhance the pre-flight experience for passengers travelling through Perth Airport.

Travellers simply scan a Mr Yum QR code on their smartphone to order and pay for hot and cold food and beverages from the table, upon entering the terminal or while waiting to pass through security.

When their order is ready, an SMS is sent so they can skip the queues and cruise through to their gate, with goods in hand.

Initially rolled out in Terminals 2 and 4 and featuring retailers Long Shot and Hudsons, Perth Airport is set to expand the number of participating retailers in coming months as domestic and international travel restrictions ease.

With 5.9 million passengers travelling through Perth Airport in FY21, Mr Yum CEO and co-founder Kim Teo says offering QR code ordering will make for a convenient and seamless in-terminal experience for travellers.

“Mr Yum is proud to partner with Perth Airport to offer an elevated experience to the thousands of people who pass through the airport every day, making it easier for those in a rush to grab a coffee or a bite to eat before boarding.

“With Mr Yum at Perth Airport, it’s  never been easier to buy before you fly!”

Perth Airport’s Chief Commercial Officer Kate Holsgrove says the system will introduce a touchless ordering system, providing customers an enhanced experience through seamless online ordering.

“We see this being particularly powerful as a queue buster in the early morning peak period,” she says.

Mr Yum’s QR code ordering and payment at Perth Airport follows a successful Australian-first launch at Sydney Airport earlier this year, which has been used by thousands of travellers to grab goods on the go.

The launch cements Mr Yum as the most innovative and versatile mobile payments and growth platform, which has been adopted in all types of venues, including stadiums, concert venues and casinos as well as pubs, cafes and restaurants.
